A carrier's public price list tells you what a stranger pays. What you pay depends on your account, your negotiated discounts, the zone, the dimensional weight of the box rather than what it weighs on the scale, the surcharges that apply to that address, and whether the destination is residential. Any of those can move the answer by more than the difference between two carriers.
Which is why comparing rate cards is guesswork and comparing quotes is not. A quote is priced for your account, your parcel and that address, at the moment you ask.
Each result carries the carrier, the named service, the price, and the delivery estimate. Cheapest is not always right — a slower service that misses the promise you made to the customer costs more than the pound it saved — so the list is sorted by price but shows enough to overrule it. Rates are grouped by carrier so the same carrier's services sit together rather than being scattered through the list.
Prices are shown in the currency the carrier quoted, and never summed across currencies. If two rates come back in different currencies, they stay in different currencies, because an invented conversion is worse than two numbers.
The comparison runs against your own EasyPost account, which is free to open and carries whatever carrier accounts you connect to it, including your own negotiated rates. Postage is billed to you directly by EasyPost. The application never holds a balance, never marks a rate up, and takes no cut of a label.
This is the difference from a shipping platform that resells postage. There, the rate you are shown is a decision someone made about their margin. Here it is the rate, and the software is the thing you paid for.

The application is free to install and free forever in EasyPost test mode, which returns test-mode rates against test carrier data. That is enough to see exactly how the comparison behaves and how your parcels are priced in shape, though the figures are test figures rather than live quotes. Live quotes and buyable labels need production mode, which is a one-time unlock — no subscription, no per-label fee.
