What shipping label software is supposed to do

Whatever you ship and however many, the job is the same five things: work out what each carrier would charge, buy the cheapest one that arrives in time, print something a courier will scan, tell the customer where it is, and keep a record for the accounts. Everything else is packaging around those five.

Easy-Post Desktop does all five in one window:

• Compare live rates from every carrier on your account, sorted cheapest first, before you commit to anything.
• Buy and print the label as PNG, PDF, ZPL or EPL — sized for a thermal printer or laid out several to an A4 or Letter sheet.
• Track every parcel, with delivery status shown in your own language rather than a carrier status code.
• Customs, insurance, pickups, refunds and claims, in the same application rather than three carrier portals.
• Reports on what you spent, by carrier, service and destination.

The part that is different: the postage is not ours

This is the distinction worth understanding before you compare anything else, because it changes what the price means.

Most shipping platforms are the merchant. You top up a balance with them, they buy the postage, and the rate you see is the rate they have decided to show you. The margin is in the gap.

Easy-Post Desktop is not in that path at all. It connects to your own EasyPost account, which is free to open, and EasyPost bills you directly for postage. The application never holds your money, never marks a rate up and takes no cut of a label. What you pay for is the software, once.

Free to install, and free for as long as you are testing

The application is free to install on every storefront, and free forever in EasyPost test mode — which is a complete working copy against test carrier data, not a countdown or a feature-locked demo. You can rate-shop, generate labels and drive the whole thing before deciding anything.

Printing labels that a courier will actually collect needs production mode, and that is the paid part: a one-time unlock, no subscription and no per-label fee. Buy it in the app on the store editions, or as a licence key from the pricing page if you want one licence across several computers.

Where it runs

• Windows 10 version 1809 or later, 64-bit. Microsoft Store, or a direct download signed with a Microsoft-issued Public Trust certificate.
• macOS 12 Monterey or later on Apple silicon. Mac App Store, or a notarised direct download. There is no Intel build.
• iPhone, as a companion app for tracking parcels and checking rates away from the desk.

Fifty interface languages. No telemetry. The source is public and MIT licensed. An Android edition is in testing and is not on Google Play yet.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits you if you ship from a desk, want carrier rates rather than a reseller's, and would rather own a tool than rent one. It suits high-volume days particularly well, because a whole spreadsheet of orders can be imported, validated, rated and bought in one pass.

It is the wrong tool if you want postage bundled into a monthly platform fee with someone else carrying the carrier relationship, or if you need it to run inside a web browser on a machine you do not control. Both are reasonable things to want. This is not that.
